Well, you say you have heard about the Adirondack Mountain Range, but some people have never visited. why? Perhaps because you thought that you were in the state of Virginia, you got an Adirond Duck that was confused with Appalachians. You might think that the drive is too far. After all, is it close to the Canadian border?
Yes, the Adirondack Mountains are only 1 hour south of the Canadian border and only 2 hours from Montreal, but within five hours from New York City and Boston, 11 million Adirondack Park in the day is 600 It is over 10,000 acres of state park and has more than 130,000 residents throughout the year. Located at the southern end of the park every summer, Lake George gathers thousands of tourists, but only a few people are in Adirondacks.
I did not know Adirondack until I moved here until I opened a motel with my husband and son four years ago. I grew up on the Jersey side of the Hudson River across from Manhattan, New Jersey. Since I graduated from college, I worked in the travel industry, but never did I visit Adirondack Park or have not done a travel related business in the area, so basically it is Until I moved here, I did not know where many other educated people were in Adirondacks, where I was.
When I was about to leave New Jersey for a reasonable five hour drive north, I will tell people who were traveling to the town just outside of Wilmington, New York State, Lake Placid ( 1932 Winter Olympic home base 1932 Winter Olympics). People say, "Where is it?" In "Adirondacks" they are trying to answer, I say, "Oh, where is that?" It probably was not a wonderful idea to move to such a beautiful place to open the motel unless you knew where the location is.
So I live on the base of White Mountain, the fifth highest peak of Adirondacks (4,867 ft altitude), the highest point in New York state that I can drive. The White Face ski center is in a few minutes and continues to hold world-class downhill skiing events as well as summer's great mountain cycling. The tributaries west of the Ausable River flows through the town and is considered a global fly fishing river. Hiking is outstanding. Even Santa has been building this summer's summer house since 1949 (Santa's workshop is one of the oldest theme parks in the country, the first zoo site). So why is the secret of New York secret? I do not know much about Wilmington.
The village of Lake Placid is 10 miles from Wilmington. People think that Lake Placid held the Winter Olympics in 1980, so White Mountain is also there. They also have a lot of money in advertising than us. Ski jumping, arena, speed skating oval are all in Lake Placid, but downhill skiing is in Wilmington. However, since mountains are related to Lake Placid, most people think that they need to stay at Lake Placid. Yes, there are plenty of restaurants, hotels and shops, but there are more people and parking lot. When people visit us at Wilmington, he says, "Are you pretty crowded in winter?" It is embarrassing to say "No, we are not."
Wilmington is such a jewel because everything is enough, including restaurants, motels, campgrounds, vacation rentals, gas stations, small grocery stores and so on. There is no crowd. There is no parking lot. And it is not one traffic signal. Country, yes, there is Internet access.
Wilmington offers a wonderful small town atmosphere in the most unimaginable beautiful surroundings. The beach in the town called Everest is one of our best secrets as even visitors do not know whether it exists until someone pointed it out. It was a very beautiful place, a place elected for President Bush's visit in Earth Day in 2002 (it would think that it put us on the map for a few seconds). Another small secret is the outdoor ice link in the town (free, bring your skate).
Probably Wilmington has a famous chain resort offering hot tubs and lots of amenities under the big roof, more tourists will visit. However, part of Wilmington 's appeal is that we do not have a studio in town (except for A & W restaurant since 1965). Because I love the place, a small community that provides individual ownership services for people living here. And if you know that you are tired, more people will love it.
